Solar Dominion: Fleet Combat is a science fiction area control boargame with a twist. The game is played on a board with four rotating segments representing the orbits of the planets, asteroids and space stations each player is trying to capture.

With a simple quick to learn ruleset, the game can be played in about an hour. It’s fast to set up, with a semi-random board layout providing a great level of replayability.

The year is 2247, and the Beacon War is in full swing. The Independent Planet Protection Pact (or IP3, pictured left) and the United Nations of Mankind (or UNM, pictured right) are fighting over the Canopus star system. On the edge of the wider conflict, an unease truce has survived for three long years. But today, that truce fails. Both sides have a small foothold in the system, and must gather the resources they need to equip their fleets to take the rest.

Each player takes control of one of these two factions, and must fight to capture and hold as many of the planets and stations in the star system as possible. Equally important, they must also hold and defend the asteroid mines to keep their forces armed and equipped. A successful player must also be thinking several steps ahead as each ring rotates at a different speed. The inner rings rotate faster than the outer rings, bringing locations that were once far apart close together in time.

An A5 full colour rulebook provides not only everything you need to play the game, but an introduction to the universe of Solar Dominion and background on the reasons for and participants in Beacon War.
